Living room is the key room in this project since this room is the place where the home owner entertains as well as where she and her family can kick back and relax.
In this living room we wanted to keep things modern and monochromatic yet fun.
For this project, most of homeowner's furniture has been used with few additions of updated inexpensive accessories, selected and purchased for the homeowner's style and lifestyle.
Since there is no architectural feature to highlight, a focal point was created by placing an abstract black and white piece of art on the wall with the longer sofa under it and building a conversation group of furniture around that and around two nesting round coffee tables with a large rug underneath.
A black and white striped area rug is an unexpected touch and used as a frame that holds the furniture(sofas) in the space together and made a big change in the living room. The room has nice wood floors and for this reason the size of the rug is just perfect to accommodate the front legs of the sofas on it but also leaves more of the beautiful wood floors exposed.
I added pops of bright blue to bring in some attitude, colour and texture.
Adding different levels of lighting, like floor and table lamps, made the room feel more comfortable but also dramatic and atmospheric.
